How Do I Get LockDown Browser For My Windows Device?

LockDown Browser is used for taking tests online in a controlled environment. The browser opens up to the Canvas Login page. You can not access any other web browsers until the assignment you are using LockDown Browser for is complete. In order to determine if LockDown browser is needed for the course,

  1. Check you Syllabus to see if your class is using the LockDown Browser.
  2. Look for an email coming from your teacher that has the link to download the LockDown Browser.

Steps for Uninstalling Lockdown Browser

IMPORTANT: IF YOU INSTALLED LOCKDOWN BROWSER FOR MOODLE, YOU WILL HAVE TO UNINSTALL YOUR CURRENT INSTALLATION OF LOCKDOWN BROWSER. TO DO SO, FOLLOW THESE STEPS:

Windows

1. In the search bar, type in "Control Panel" and open the application.

 


 

2. Under Programs, click Uninstall a program.

 

 

3. Find Respondus LockDown Browser in the list of programs and double-click it.

 

 

4. You will be prompted to completely remove the application and all of its features. Select Yes.

 

 

Mac

To uninstall LockDown Browser on the Mac just requires dragging the LockDown Browser application from Finder->Applications into the Trash and emptying the Trash.

 

Steps for Installing Lockdown Browser

1. Click on one of the following links to be taken to the LockDown Browser download pages.

For MACs: https://download.respondus.com/lockdown/download.php?ostype=2&id=781243948

 

2. Click Install Now.

 

 

3. Once the installer has downloaded, open file explorer and double-click the application.

 

 

4. Go through the steps of setting up Lockdown Browser. Make sure you accept the terms of the license agreement. Once you are done, click Finish.

 

 

Mac users: If you downloaded LockDown browser and cannot find it, go to Spotlight. Under Spotlight, search for LockDown Browser.
